Detailed Biography:

Elizabeth Maringer is Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. In that position, she oversees various units within the Criminal Division, formulates office policy, and develops crime control strategies in cases involving racketeering, violent crime, narcotics trafficking, fraud, organized crime, public corruption, computer crimes, and terrorism. She also serves as the point person for various Department of Justice initiatives, including those targeting firearms, gangs, and child exploitation offenses.

Ms. Maringer joined the United States Attorney’s Office in 1999 and has served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the General Crimes, Narcotics, and Violent Crimes Units. She has represented the United States in numerous criminal prosecutions at both the trial and appellate level. Ms. Maringer received the Department of Justice Director’s Award for Superior Performance as an Assistant United States Attorney for the convictions of the leader and other high-ranking members of the United Blood Nation, a street gang commonly known as the Bloods. She also received the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association’s Group Achievement Award.

Ms. Maringer clerked for the Honorable Robert J. Ward, United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, from 1994 to 1996. She was then an associate in the litigation department at the law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison from 1996 to 1999.
