Simon H. Rifkind Professor Emeritus of Law

B.S., College of the City of New York, 1937; LL.B., Brooklyn, 1941; S.J.D., Harvard, 1957; LL.D., Brooklyn, 1986. Attorney with the Securities and Exchange Commission, 1943–50; then served as executive assistant to the Commission chairman for two years. Member of the American Law Institute. Taught law at Southern Methodist University, 1953–56; spent five years at Northwestern before coming to Columbia in 1962. Has taught in diverse areas and has published on conflict of laws, constitutional law, corporations, evidence, federal courts, securities regulation, and torts.
