The Columbia Law School Legal Technology Association (CLS Legal Tech) is pleased to announce a lunch talk with Josh Becker, the CEO of Lex Machina.
Lex Machina is a startup company that helps lawyers predict the outcomes of different legal strategies by mining and analyzing litigation data. Started as a project at Stanford University within the university’s law school and computer science department, Lex Machina was later launched as a startup company and acquired by Lexis.
As CEO, Mr, Becker leads strategy for Lex Machina and is a thought leader on leveraging technology to improve the practice of law. Mr. Becker was part of the Founding team of Dice.com and ran corporate development at Agile Software (sold to Oracle). He was a Venture Capitalist at Redpoint Ventures and then a Founding General Partner of New Cycle Capital. Previously he also worked at McKinsey & Co. and Netscape. Mr. Becker runs Startup2Startup, an entrepreneur dinner/discussion group and is active with the Stanford Angels and Entrepreneurs. He Chairs the Full Circle Fund, a coalition of technology and business leaders that collectively funds and supports leading social entrepreneurs.
The talk with Mr. Becker will cover topics including the current status of their award-winning platform, Legal Analytics, the use of cases, who the users are, how it is changing the law, as well as some issues that are critical to future legal professionals.
