The Student Organization News and Information (SONI) System is designed to let student organizations email students directly, and to allow you to subscribe or unsubscribe from any student group mailing list.

At the beginning of each academic year, you are automatically subscribed to all of the student organization and journal email lists.  Those lists are below, together with instructions on how to subscribe and unsubscribe from those lists.   Each student group will send out emails from their own email accounts, and you will receive emails from each group, unless you unsubscribe from those groups.

Every message sent from a student organization address will also be saved on the SONI web log, which you can access on the Student Services website at http://coursewebs.law.columbia.edu/soniblog.  This allows you to see all the email messages that have been sent out by every group, even if you are not subscribed to those mailing lists.  To see upcoming student events, you can also go to The Advisor on the Student Services website, which lists all student activities for the week.  If you are interested in the messages sent out by a particular group, you can click on the link next to the group name, and you will see a web log of their messages.  Both the SONI web log and the SONI mailing list log page require your CLS user ID and password.  All messages on the log will be expunged after 30 days.

To Unsubscribe:

If you want to unsubscribe from a list, just send the following command in the message body and leave the subject line empty.  The system will automatically remove your email address from the list.

LISTSERV@CUVMC.AIS.COLUMBIA.EDU

For example, if you wanted to unsubscribe from Law Revue's emails, you would send an email to listserv@cuvmc.ais.columbia.edu, type "unsubscribe law-law-revue" in the message body, and leave the subject line empty.  This removal process can take up to 24 hours.   A list of student group addresses is below, and unsubscribe instructions will also be on the bottom of each email sent out by the group.  You will receive a message indicating that the mailing list server has accepted your request to unsubscribe.

To Subscribe/Rejoin:

To rejoin a list, simply replace the unsubscribe command with a subscribe command, and follow the same instructions. 
For example, to rejoin the Law Revue list, you would send an email to listserv@cuvmc.ais.columbia.edu, type "subscribe law-law-revue" in the message body, and leave the subject line empty.
