Published semi-annually under the auspices of the Centers for Chinese, Japanese and Korean Legal Studies, the Columbia Journal of Asian Law, formerly the Journal of Chinese Law, is a forum for examining the fundamental underpinnings and the rapid development of bodies of law in Asia. Almost every aspect of Asian law is within the journal's scope: history, business, intellectual property, human rights and public international law, to name a few. As part of this effort, the Columbia Journal of Asian Law was the first Columbia journal to pursue electronic publication via the World Wide.
The journal publishes articles by scholars, practicing attorneys and government officials in the field, as well as student-written notes. Professors R. Randle Edwards and Jeong-Ho Roh serve as members of the journal's Board of Advisors. The staff is selected from applications received at the end of the first year for J.D. candidates while applications from LL.M., J.S.D. and Special Students are received at the beginning of the academic year. Selections for editorial board positions are made from among the staff at the end of the second year.
