Section Information
Section Description Provided by Instructor
Two Japanese practice lawyers provide advanced legal skills in Japanese law to future US lawyers in this course. Topics covered include Japanese contract law, corporate law, securities law, employment law, antimonopoly law and dispute resolution mechanisms. However, the purpose of the course is not to give the whole picture of those legal areas but to offer the opportunities to acquire necessary capacities to understand Japanese legal issues and negotiate about those issues by way of review of various types of Japanese legal materials and class discussions on them.
Class materials and instruction are mainly in Japanese. Japanese language ability is prerequisite. The grade for the course is based on a take-home examination and class performance.
Course will meet from January 15 through March 6.
