This multidisciplinary seminar is offered under the auspices of the Columbia University Earth Institute and the Ford Foundation's series on Difficult Dialogues. The seminar highlights developments in genetics, neuroscience, and evolutionary biology, and examines the legal, political, and ethical challenges posed by such developments to traditional notions of autonomy, econometric rationality, Manichean dualisms, "race," gender taxonomies, privacy, and physical integrity.
