  • Share/email this course
  • Print

The seminar will explore selected topics in civil procedure (including such matters as pleading standards, discovery, settlement and summary judgment) from an academic and judicial perspective. Students will read cases and leading law review articles, in preparation for discussion of the scholarly work with guest judges, who will offer their perspective on the academic writing. Grades will be based on class participation and two short papers that engage analytically and critically with the scholarship, case law, and seminar discussion. Minor writing credit will be awarded for successful completion of the course. LLM and other students who have not taken a course in U.S. civil procedure should speak with the instructors before enrolling.
