Welcome from the Conference Chairs
Welcome to Columbia Arbitration Day 2013!
This annual conference brings together scholars, practitioners, and students for a discussion about the challenges that drive the international arbitration community. Since the first Columbia Arbitration Day in 2010, the conference has increased in popularity and recognition, and this year we are honored to present many outstanding speakers with varied backgrounds, experiences, and views on cutting-edge arbitration issues.
The topic of the conference is Remedies and Enforcement in International Arbitration, focusing on commercial as well as investment arbitration. The four panels will discuss waiver of enforcement, remedies alternative to damages, enforcement of an award that has been set aside in the country of origin, and best practices in enforcement proceedings. One speaker from each panel will also serve as an expert moderator, who will illuminate the speakers’ different perspectives on these issues.
Legal systems respond in various ways to the challenges of maintaining efficacy and legitimacy in international arbitration. The speakers at Columbia Arbitration Day will illuminate the different perspectives on these topics and address some of the leading challenges in international arbitration today. We trust that you will gain new understanding and insight from the opinions presented throughout the day and that you will find the discussions interesting, as well as entertaining.
Columbia Arbitration Day 2013 is a unique opportunity for practitioners, scholars and students to come together, share, and discuss the latest developments in the arbitration field. If you have not registered yet, please do so before March 1, 2013.
We look forward to welcoming you at Columbia Law School on March 8, 2013!
