CURRENT FELLOWS

Eva E. Subotnik is an Intellectual Property Fellow with the Kernochan Center for Law, Media & the Arts, focusing on issues relating to authors' rights and copyright. Before joining the Kernochan Center, she was an associate at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, and a law clerk to the Hon. Bruce M. Selya of the First Circuit Court of Appeals and the Hon. Alvin K. Hellerstein of the Southern District of New York. Eva is a graduate of Columbia College, where she majored in philosophy, and of Columbia Law School, where she was a senior editor of the Columbia Law Review, a James Kent Scholar, a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and Vice President for Community Grants of the Public Interest Law Foundation.

KERNOCHAN CENTER FELLOWSHIP

The Kernochan Center Fellowship supports future legal academics interested in the field of copyright and authors’ rights. Fellows will have the opportunity to spend one to two years in residence at Columbia Law School, working on their own research and on Kernochan Center projects.  It is expected that fellows will produce an independent work of scholarship that will position them to enter the job market for full-time academic employment.

Fellows will receive a stipend of approximately $50,000 plus benefits, eligibility for subsidized housing, and space to work at the law school. In the event that subsidized housing is unavailable, fellows will receive an allowance of $10,000 to help defray the cost of housing.

The fellowship will commence in September 2009. Applicants should be 2-5 years out of law school and planning a career in academia.
