The Project
The Project intends to facilitate U.S. investments in clean energy projects in India, an estimated $1.1 trillion market. Toward this aim, the project will develop contracts drafted in consultation with leading US and Indian attorneys and experts. These contract templates will be available for free-of-charge download. The Sujana Group has funded this Project at Columbia Law School.
Clean energy projects are one of the most cost-effective ways to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions.
- U.S. Investors will potentially gain excellent financial returns and reduce global emissions.
- Indian industry would benefit from reduced production costs and emissions.
High perceived or actual transaction costs have greatly inhibited such investments in India. The project will create and make available, free-of-charge, contract templates subject to deal-specific adjustments.
The Project will facilitate the transaction costs clearing away one of the major impediments to clean energy initiation.
The Project has been funded by the generosity of the Sujana Group, India.
