All students who are U.S. Citizens or permanent residents must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov in order to receive GSF. Even if you do not receive financial aid to attend CLS, you must still fill out the FAFSA to receive GSF funding. The deadline to fill out the FAFSA is March 22, 2012. Before you can complete the FAFSA this year, you must file your taxes. Your funding will be jeopardized if you do not fill out the FAFSA on time.
If you received Guaranteed Summer Funding last year, and have not received your W-2: Log into my.columbia.edu, and click the "Faculty and Staff" page (link is on the upper left corner). You can access your W-2, by clicking "My W-2." If you do not have a faculty and staff tab, you can e-mail payroll with your W-2 request at w2@columbia.edu.
After completing your FAFSA, you must complete a Work Study Certification Form, and turn it in to Social Justice Initiatives' mailbox (Box B-26, Information Center, first floor Jerome Greene Hall), or to Bernice Ines at 410 West 116th Street (Little Warren), 3rd Floor by March 22, 2012.
If you are an international student, you must obtain a social security number in order to receive guaranteed summer funding. You can only receive your SSN within a month of your internship start date. Details for obtaining a Social Security Number are below in the GSF Payroll Section.
