Independent Study

Working closely with a faculty member on a mutually exciting project is one of the most rewarding intellectual experiences at Columbia. Whether pursuing an idea that arose during an internship or delving into a new theory, students undertaking these individual projects conduct in-depth research and write on issues of particular importance to them. The depth and breadth of Columbia's public interest faculty means that there are many experts with whom to work and, often, to collaborate.
