How to Fulfill the Pro Bono Requirement

STUDENT INITIATED PETITION

This form is required for mandatory pro bono work completed at non-established placements (see Columbia's Public Interest Database for established placement status at https://wwws-db.law.columbia.edu/lawnet/lawnetLogin.jsp), law firms, or for work supervised by Columbia professors. Petitions must be approved before work begins.

PRO BONO LOG (optional)

This form is an optional organizational tool; you are not required to submit this form to earn your pro bono credit. If your supervisor is completing a Supervisor’s Report on-line, http://wwws-db.law.columbia.edu/lawnet/pubint/supervisorEvaluation.jsp they will need your name, e-mail address and the number of hours worked in order to submit the form. Feel free to use this form to communicate that information to your supervisor. Please do not submit it to SJI.

EXIT QUESTIONNAIRE

All pro bono credit, whether mandatory or voluntary, requires the completion of an Exit Questionnaire.

SUPERVISOR'S REPORT

All pro bono credit, whether mandatory or voluntary, requires the completion of a supervisor's report.

If this supervisor's report is being submitted for the work of a group of students, supervisors should attach a list of all participating students, and should indicate the number of hours that each student worked.

Forms can be faxed to (212) 854-3515 or mailed to 435 W. 116th St. Box B-26 New York, NY 10027. If you wish to drop your forms off at SJI, we are located on the 9th floor of William Warren Hall, 410 W. 116th St.

Please note: overseeing attorneys can submit the supervisor's report on-line by visiting
