Each year, the Center for Gender and Sexuality Law is able to host several Visiting Scholars and Research Fellows from any where in the world and from a range of academic disciplines. Visiting Scholars and Research Fellows (Scholars and Fellows) are given access to law library materials and limited computer privileges. Scholars and Fellows may also audit CLS courses and seminars with the permission of the instructor. In addition, Scholars and Fellows are encouraged to attend and participate in Center and other Law School events which will integrate them into the CLS community. The Visiting Scholar category is normally reserved for professors at domestic or foreign faculties, as well as judges, and other professionals who are advanced in their careers. The Visiting Research Fellow category is for those earlier in their career, such as individuals engaged in post-doctoral studies. The charges for Scholars and Fellows are $6,000 per academic year, although the Center is able to waive the fee in a limited number of cases, depending upon need and availability. All necessary immigration forms are processed through the International Students and Scholars Office of Columbia University.
