Speaker Event Series

Tuesday, October 7th: Giuliano Amato and the 10th Anniversary of the Columbia Journal of European Law. Giuliano Amato (Vice-President of the European Constitutional Convention, former Italian Prime Minister, frequent CLS lecturer, and EUI professor) will host a panel discussion on the Draft Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe. The panel will take place in JG 101, at 4:00, followed by a cocktail reception in Drapkin Lounge.

Wednesday, October 22nd: Guido Ferrarini /ELSC Forum Presentation. Professor Ferrarini teaches Law at the University of Genoa, is a Director of the Centre for Law and Finance and an Honorary Professor of the Faculty of Law, of University College London. He is currently a visiting professor at CLS, co-teaching the EU Seminar with Professor Pistor. Professor Ferrarini will discuss the new Draft Investment Services Directive, in R600, of William and June Warren Hall, at 12:15.Light refreshments will be served.

Wednesday, November 5th: Simon Deakin /ELSC Forum Presentation. Professor Deakin is the Robert Monks Professor of Corporate Governance in the Judge Institute of Management, University of Cambridge. He is currently a visiting professor at CLS, co-teaching the EU Seminar with Professor Pistor. Professor Deakin's topic will be announced at a later date. The Forum will take place in R 600, of William and June Warren Hall, at 12:15. Light refreshments will be served.

Wednesday, November 12th: Jaap Winter /ELSC Forum Presentation. Jaap Winter is a Professor of International Company Law, Erasmus University Rotterdam and Chairman of the High Level Group of Company Law Experts set up in 2001 by the European Commission to advise on a modern regulatory framework for company law in Europe. He is currently a visiting professor at CLS, co-teaching the EU Seminar with Professor Pistor. Professor Winter will discuss the findings of his report to the European Commission, in R600 of William and June Warren Hall, at 12:15 Light refreshments will be served.

Friday, November 14th: Jutta Limbach. Dr. Limbach is an eminent jurist (former President of the Federal Constitutional Court) and new president of the Goethe Institutes. This event will be hosted in conjunction with the Institute for the Study of Europe. More information on the time and location of the event will follow.

Monday, December 8th: Stefano Inama "The Participation of Developing Countries in Multilateral Institutions." Mr. Inama is Senior Counsel for the United Nations Conference of Trade and Development (UNCTAD). The seminar will take place at 12:15 in Room 600 of William and June Warren Hall. Light refreshments will be served.
