Students

Approximately 1,350 students attend the School of Law each year — 1,200 J.D. candidates, and the rest in the LL.M. and J.S.D. programs. 98% of the Class of 2007 was employed at graduation.

Admissions:  Columbia stands among the handful of the most highly selective law schools in the nation, as selectivity is measured by percent of applicants accepted and enrollment yield or acceptances. Our J.D. Class of 2010 presents a median LSAT of 172 (99th percentile) and a median undergraduate GPA of 3.70, and is distinguished further by its remarkable range of diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Student Body:  Currently, 41 states, 18 foreign countries, and 120 undergraduate colleges are represented in our J.D. student body, with Yale, Harvard, Columbia, and Stanford, being the principal undergraduate feeder schools. Columbia is one of the most diverse law student bodies in the country, with 32% students of color and 48% women.
