SUMMARY:Human Rights Law Internships in Palestine and Israel
DESCRIPTION:Omar Shehabi, Founder of Palestine Works, will talk about human rights issues in Palestine and Israel, and creating a new human rights initiative. Palestine Works has partnered with more than 15 human rights organizations and law schools in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Israel offering legal internships this summer. Palestine Works enhances these internships with an international law orientation, weekend programs throughout Palestine and Israel, and legacy projects that include scholarship, conferences and creative endeavors. Students can apply for these internships through Symplicity.\nMr. Shehabi is a graduate of University of Notre Dame Law School and has worked as a union-side labor lawyer in Los Angeles and Chicago. He served as a UN Development Programme consultant on trade and labor law to the Palestinian Authority&#8217;s Ministry of National Economy. He was also a teaching assistant at Notre Dame in courses on the Arab-Israeli conflict and the United Nations system.Pizza will be served.
