DESCRIPTION:To what extent can, and should, courts exercise meaningful control over internal security agencies? Iain Cameron will focus on the case law of the European Court of Human Rights on national security issues, including extraterritorial human rights abuses, as well as the recent standard-setting in the field by the Council of Europe advisory body in constitutional issues, the Venice Commission. Iain Cameron is a professor in public international law at Uppsala University. He is the author of numerous books and articles in the field of international and constitutional law. He has specialized particularly in issues relating to security, intelligence and human rights.
