SUMMARY:Legal Challenges Faced by Same-Sex Binational Couples.
DESCRIPTION:More than forty thousand binational families have been torn apart by America's discriminatory immigration system. Please join the OUTLaws, the Society for Immigrant & Refugee Rights and Law & Culture as they welcome Tom Plummer, of Immigration Equality relief available, and pursuing solutions through litigation and immigration reform. Tom will be joined by two of his clients, Philip Rodenbough & Kouassi “Norbert” Akou. Phil is himself a student at Columbia and his spouse Kouassi (Norbert) is from the Ivory Coast and was recently granted asylum in the U.S. They will speak to their own experiences and the challenges they faced navigating the US immigration system. Lunch will be served. Contact\: Olena V. Ripnick, ovr2102@columbia.edu
