DESCRIPTION:CBLA will host an informal lunch hour with Professor Katharina Pistor, the Michael I. Sovern Professor of Law at Columbia Law School and the Director of the School’s Center on Global Legal Transformation. In October, she was honored with the prestigious Max Planck Research Award for her contributions to the regulation of international financial markets. It is one of Germany’s most valuable prizes, given to only two people annually. Prof. Pistor will discuss how she intends to use her award money to expand on two facets of her work that are already underway\: analyzing the impact of financial regulatory efforts undertaken by various nations on the global financial system, and probing the limitations of emergent global property rights regimes. She will also take questions about her upcoming Spring semester classes (Corporations and the popular 1L elective, Lawyering Across Multiple Orders) and other facets of her research.
