SUMMARY:An Overview of Prison and Jail Censorship Litigation\: Historical and Current
DESCRIPTION:Paul Wright, Editor of Prison Legal News, will present along with Lance Weber, Litigation Director at Prison Legal News, and Alissa Hull, Staff Attorney. The panel will give an overview of prison and jail censorship litigation\: a historical overview, then a presentation on actual first amendment litigation on the merits, and a discussion of the right to due process when mail is censored. Prison Legal News has been remarkably successful in obtaining injunctions, consent decrees, and damages and fees in these cases around the country.
