David Vogel is a professor in the Haas School of Business and the Department of Political Science at the University of California Berkeley. He is the author or editor of several books on the politics of government regulation, including, Fluctuating Fortunes: The Political Power of Business in America, Trading Up: Consumer and Environmental Regulation in a Global Economy, What's the Beef? The Contested Governance of European Food Safety, and Transatlantic Regulatory Cooperation: The Shifting Roles of the EU, the US and California. His most recent book, The Politics of Precaution, was published by Princeton University Press..
