Mt. Holly Unresolved: Racial Discrimination and the Fair Housing Act

Start/End Tuesday, November 19, 2013 12:10 PM EST -- 01:10 PM EST
Location Name JG 107

A major housing discrimination case, which was to have been heard by the Supreme Court December 4, was settled on Wednesday night. The case, Mount Holly v. Mt. Holly Gardens Citizens in Action, Inc., would have given the court an opportunity to decide whether claims under the Fair Housing Act require proof of intentional discrimination or whether disparate impact is enough. Our panelists, Dennis Parker from the ACLU and Joshua Civin from the NAACP will discuss the relationship between racial discrimination, the Fair Housing Act, and greater financial systems, as well as what the Mt. Holly settlement means for future claims. Contact:  Xochitl Rodriguez,
