Marianne Williamson said "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure." Even when they are the boss, women shrink from exercising their power to its fullest extent. They shy away from displays of power, even when it is appropriate and beneficial. It is important for women to understand that this is what power is for - to liberate themselves and to allow others to shine. Women who have risen to general counsel within their company will discuss how they use their power wisely and appropriately to advance their clients' interests and will reflect on the causes which inspired them as they rose to the top.
Among other questions raised at the session, we expect our panelists to discuss: What help did you receive - from men and women - on your way to the top?; Do you use your power to help those still struggling on lower rungs of the corporate ladder?; Have you used your power in ways for which you later had regrets?; How has having power affected your personal relationships at work and at home?
