125 Broad Street, 18th Floor, New York NY 10004
Interested in a career in defending the nation's civil liberties? Join the CLS ACLU on Friday, April 18 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. for a field trip to the headquarters of the National American Civil Liberties Union, the nation's oldest and largest civil liberties organization. Legal Director Steven R. Shapiro will discuss the life of a civil rights attorney and field questions about the current cases before the ACLU.
Mr. Shapiro has been the ACLU's Legal Director since 1993, and served as Associate Legal Director from 1987–1993. During that time, he has appeared as counsel or co-counsel on more than 200 ACLU briefs submitted to the United States Supreme Court. Shapiro is also an adjunct professor of constitutional law at Columbia Law School and a frequent speaker and writer on civil liberties issues.
With questions or to RSVP, email Tai Aliya (firstname.lastname@example.org). An RSVP is required so our names are on the security list to get into the building. We will leave from Jerome Greene Hall Lobby at 1:05 to arrive at the ACLU office at 125 Broad Street at 2:00 p.m.
