Public interest lawyer Jia Ping and civil society activist Zhang Tao will describe challenges facing civil society leaders and public interest lawyers in China. Mr. Jia and Ms. Zhang will introduce civil society and legal development in China over the past two decades, followed by insights into their pioneering efforts to found the Health Governance Initiative, one of China’s first ‘watchdog’ nongovernmental organizations.
