SUMMARY:Deadline\: Mock Interview (Public Interest and Government) Registration Closes at Noon Today
DESCRIPTION:If you are interested in signing up for a mock interview with a public interest or government practitioner during next week's program (Mon-Weds), you must register in Symplicity by Noon today.\nThe mock interview program is designed to give students a sense of what to expect from an interview with a public interest organization. Students will have the opportunity to mock interview with a practicing public interest lawyer who does work that may be similar to what you would like to do this summer! There are opportunities to interview in person or via Skype or phone for those who would like to practice interviewing with employers in other states or countries. It's important to be prepared as the employers have volunteered their time to make this a worthwhile learning experience and, as a result of the mock interview, some students have developed professional connections with their interviewers.

SUMMARY:"The Terror Factory\: Inside the FBI's Manufactured War on Terrorism" with Trevor Aaronson
DESCRIPTION:Please join HRI and the Council on American-Islamic Relations for a discussion with Trevor Aaronson about his new book The Terror Factory\: Inside the FBI's Manufactured War on Terrorism. The book shows how the FBI has, under the guise of engaging in counterterrorism since 9/11, built a network of more than 15,000 informants. In too many cases, informants have infiltrated Muslim communities and manufactured phony terrorist plots, leading to false government claims of victory in the War on Terror. \nTrevor Aaronson is co-director of the Florida Center for Investigative Reporting and a senior fellow at the Schuster Institute for Investigative Journalism at Brandeis University. Aaronson was a 2010-11 fellow at the Investigative Reporting Program at the University of California, Berkeley where he produced an award-winning project about FBI counterterrorism operations for Mother Jones. \nThe event is open to all. Books will be available for purchase. \nCo-sponsored by\: The Bill of Rights Defense Committee (BORDC), The New York Chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY), Desis Rising Up & Moving (DRUM), CLEAR and the National Lawyers Guild-NYC.
