One of the largest and most dynamic law departments in the world, the The New York City Law Department, Corporation Counsel represents New York City in all civil litigation and in the criminal prosecution of juveniles.  It is divided into 17 legal divisions with about 650 attorneys.  Divisions include: affirmative litigation, appeals, environmental law, torts, general litigation, special federal litigation (civil rights and action defense), legal counsel (legislative drafting and policy advising), bankruptcy, economic development, and municipal finance.
