Rates start at $25 per hour and vary based on the age and number of children. Sitters are 25 and older. There is a minimum of four hours, plus $4.50 for travel costs until midnight and $10 thereafter. ($5 more for foreign language speaking sitters.)

Undergraduate students use this babysitting program to make a few extra dollars while they are in school. Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island families must register before requesting a babysitter, and should give at least two days notice. Rates average $13-$15 per hour with a two-hour minimum; families are expected to pay for meals and transportation after 9 p.m.

Pinch Sitters

Sitters charge $20 per hour with a 4-hour minimum (in cash), plus additional transportation fees after 9 p.m. (up to to $10). For cancellations with less than 24 hour notice, there is a $35 fee. Families may share a sitter and rates are determined by the number of children and their ages. Services are available in Manhattan and select areas of Queens and Brooklyn. Same day requests are taken with a two-hour turn around time (if a sitter is available). All sitters have at least 3 years experience, background and reference checks and are English-speaking, professional women between the ages of 23-45.
