In addition to Eric H. Holder Jr. ’76 and several other alumni, the Obama administration has recruited four more Columbia Law School graduates to fill key government positions.George Madison ’80 will serve as the general counsel of the U.S. Treasury Department. Donald Verrilli ’83 joins the Justice Department as associate deputy attorney general and Ginger Anders ’02 has become the assistant to the solicitor general in the Department of Justice. Timothy Reif ’85 has joined the office of the U.S. Trade Representative as general counsel. David C. Vladeck ’76 has been named director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection. Lewis Yellin ’00 has been tapped to assist the State Department’s Legal Adviser in counseling Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Lewis comes to the State Department from the Department of Justice where he has worked for many years on cases involving foreign relations and national security. And David M. Becker ’73 will serve as general counsel and senior policy director of the Securities and Exchange Commission. In this role, he will lead the SEC’s effort to reform the financial services sector.
