Judith Vladeck ’47, a recipient of the CLS Medal of Excellence, died in Manhattan on January 8th at the age of 83. A prominent labor lawyer known for her meticulous research and courtroom showmanship, she was a pioneer in defending the rights of women against some of this country’s largest corporations and universities. J. BARCLAY COLLINS '69 NAMED UNITED HOSPITAL FUND BOARD CHAIRMAN

July 5, 2006 ? The United Hospital Fund announced that J. Barclay Collins II '69, executive vice president and general counsel of Hess Corporation, was elected chairman of the Fund's board of directors. Mr. Collins also serves on the management committee and is a member of the board of directors of Hess Corporation, the New York-based global energy company.


JANE BERGNER '67 NAMED ONE OF AMERICA'S MOST INFLUENTIAL WOMEN
Jane Bergner '67 was selected by the Forbes Radio Network -- which broadcasts on all American Airlines flights -- for inclusion in its interviews of America's Most Influential Women.  Other selectees include women like former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.  The interview will be broadcast throughout the month of May, 2006 on all American Airlines flights, and is also available online.  For more information, click here.


KRISTIN BLEMASTER '05 RECEIVES 2006 BURTON LEGAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Intellectual property law firm Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto announced that attorney Kristin Blemaster '05 was named as a recipient of the 2006 Burton Award for Legal Achievement for her article, co-written with fellow winner Nina Shreve, "Clearing a Trademark for Use," which was originally published in General Counsel New York. JEREMIAH S. PAM '00 NAMED U.S. TREASURY FINANCIAL ATTACHE IN IRAQ

U.S. SUPREME COURT TO HEAR MALDEF'S APPEAL OF TEXAS VOTING RIGHTS CASE
Nina Perales '90 Will Present Oral Arguments on March 1st, 2006
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - The U.S. Supreme Court has noted probable jurisdiction in the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund's (MALDEF's) appeal of its challenge to the Texas congressional redistricting map. The case, GI Forum v. Perry, argues that the Texas redistricting plan discriminates against Latino voters by failing to create seven Latino-majority districts in South Texas and by dismantling Congressional District 23 in West Texas as a Latino opportunity district.
