Please find below the Fall 2012 exam schedule as well as the exam room assignments.
If you plan on using your laptop to take a proctored essay exam in December 2012, you must do the following well before your first exam:
Download and install version 11 of the SofTest software - the 2012-13 version is different from that of prior years. For details see the information on Laptop Exams and follow the links and instructions. If you took an essay exam earlier in the Fall 2012 term and used SofTest, you would have used SofTest version 11 and will not need to re-install the software. However, if you last used SofTest in a prior academic year, you must install version 11 of the software in order to take a laptop exam this month. Please check to make sure you have SofTest version 11 installed on the computer you will be using for proctored essay exams this month.
Download the exam file for each proctored essay exam you will be taking in December. The only proctored exams for which an exam file is not available for downloading are those that are completely multiple-choice: Federal Income Taxation (Raskolnikov); International Financial Transactions (Forbes-Cockell); Evidence (Shechtman). You will record your answers on a Scantron and will need only a couple of #2 pencils and an eraser.
SofTest is not used for take-home exams. See the take-home exam information beginning on page 4 of the Fall 2012 Exam Schedule.
If you will not be using a laptop for one of more of your proctored exams, please email Registration Services (registrar@law.columbia.edu) to let us know which exam(s) you will be writing by hand.
